Bees are an indispensable part of our ecosystem: they pollinate plants and thus ensure the richness of the food chain. They are also indispensable for sustainable regional agriculture.
We would like to support this and had busy little bees visiting us at work from mid-June to the end of September.
After the expansion of the gravel yard, about 900 sqm of flower meadow Behind Hall 33 was planted as a compensation area.
After the field was sown in May, the beehives could be set up in June and the flower meadow could call it home for the next 4 months.
We were supported by the local beekeeping company Thobe (b.d. Groberei 2, Lastrup), which not only set up and looked after the hives but also took care of the bottling of our Beste Brummer honey.
We are very pleased that the bees felt so comfortable with us and produced so much honey that every employee can take a small jar home as a souvenir at Christmas.
